Because our future daughter-in-law is working on her master’s degree in higher education, focusing on student life, I probably paid more attention to this sign. Probably too much attention.
The 24/7 part is exactly right for a residence hall director. They are on call all the time. As a grad assistant, Allie isn’t on all the time, but she was responsible for 1000 students last weekend. And she was a bit nervous. As we talked to her, however, I was impressed with her awareness of the issues. She had talked through potential problems with her boss. She had learned to draw lines, to be decisive.
We’re proud of her, grateful that she and Andrew will be together starting next June.
But Allie is anything but reserved.
